Invitation to Annual Latino/a Roundtable Cesar Chavez Breakfast Fundraiser

On Friday, March 28 2014, the 10th Annual Cesar Chavez Breakfast Fundraiser will be held at the Avalon at the Fairplex (1101 West McKinnely Ave.) in Pomona.  The breakfast will begin at 8am and end by 10am.

The Latino and Latina Roundtable and LCLAA SGV-IE hosts this annual event to highlight leaders in our communities whose work demonstrates and embodies the values and examples of civil rights and labor leader, Cesar E Chavez.

This year we will be honoring the  Inland Empire Immigrant Youth Coalition for their consistent organizing efforts in achieving equal access to higher education and justice for immigrant communities; Jerry Ryan, who was an early leader in the grape boycott and has continued as a  union labor movement leader and organizer for the last 30 years;  Kevin de Leon, California Senator of the 22nd District, a graduate of Pitzer College who was instrumental in passage of AB-60, the Trust Act, and various legislative bills supporting working people ; and Stacey Wilkins, principal and former alumnus of Garey High School know for inspiring parents and students in academic excellence, building community-based partnerships, and in advancing community engagement initiatives (such as the annual Cesar Chavez Pilgrimage).

Our organization has continued to keep this breakfast a grass-roots celebration at a minimal cost.  The proceeds from the breakfast will be used to continue supporting our efforts in the region on education, immigration, labor, and local and national policy issues.  We have been part of the many efforts that have resulted in an increase of civic engagement in our communities through ongoing efforts in carrying out legalization, voter registration, and get out the vote drives.  We all understand that it takes more than sacrifice to sustain these organizing efforts and now we are asking for your support.  We thank you for your contributions to help us in climbing those hills of justice and equality in the next year.

Please join us in celebrating our history, present, and future efforts in our communities.

Breakfast Tickets are $40 an individual; $400 for a table of 10. See the attached flyer for ads and Golden/Silver table designations.
