Urge Sen. Feinstein to protect refugee children!

Dear friends,

Protections for children fleeing violence in Central America are at risk!

Can you take just 30 seconds to help defend basic due process protections for refugee children?

Please call California Senator Dianne Feinstein today and ask her to stand against any proposal that would weaken protections for children who are fleeing serious harm.

We’re hearing that anti-immigrant calls are overwhelmingly outnumbering pro-immigrant calls to the Senator’s office. Can you please make a call today?

If you have a moment, please let us know how your call went!

Background

Congress is considering an emergency funding bill – with negative and positive components – to address the child refugees who are fleeing violence in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.

Unfortunately, some legislators in Washington are using this moment to push proposals to rapidly deport children who are victims of trafficking, sexual assault, or persecution back to these dangerous situations. These troubling proposals come weeks after the President himself indicated he wanted to speed up the deportation of child refugees.

Under Senator Feinstein’s leadership, Congress passed the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) with near unanimous support in 2008. This law makes sure these vulnerable children have the right to basic due process and can have a judge fully review their cases.

Please call Senator Feinstein and urge her to oppose any proposal that would roll back critical due process protections for the children fleeing violence in Central America.
