Pomona Valley Ex-Offender & Reentry Resource Fair

  POMONA VALLEY REENTRY COALITION

Ex-Offender & Reentry Resource Fair

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

Dear Pomona service organizations, agencies, and faith communities:

The Pomona Valley Reentry Coalition (PVRC) is hosting the Pomona Valley Ex-Offender & Reentry Resource Fair on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.  The purpose of our Resource Fair is to provide a single point of connection for the reentry community and other ex-offenders to access multiple resources on employment and job training opportunities, housing, clothing and food resources, financial literacy, insurance, health care and wellness opportunities, etc.  We consider the reentry resource fairs to be a public safety strategy. People who get help with employment, housing, and so on, are on their way to reintegration into the larger world.

A few months ago, thanks to connections made at the Violence Prevention Coalition of Greater Los Angeles, a number of agencies and organizations here in the Pomona area formed the Pomona Valley Reentry Coalition (PVRC).   The mission of the PVRC is to bring together community stakeholders and resources to improve outcomes and create networking opportunities for the reentry community and their families in the Pomona Valley area.

You are invited to participate as a services provider, and/or to come and observe, the new Pomona Valley Ex-Offender & Reentry Resource Fair taking place monthly as a way to support and encourage men and women recently released from prison or jail.  If your organization or agency has services to offer to ex-offenders and the reentry community, this event is an excellent opportunity to reach large numbers of people in one well-organized location.

The Pomona Valley Ex-Offender & Reentry Resource Fairs are being held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon (with service providers arriving & checking in at 9:30 am).  We are located at 1761 W. Holt Avenue in the city of Pomona.  Lunch is provided.

Our January 2015 monthly Pomona Valley Ex-Offender & Reentry Resource Fair drew slightly more than 100 attendees; offered a motivational speaker; hosted 17 service providers; and offered Lunch immediately after the event.

The PVRC invites any of you to be a “provider” at our reentry resource fairs.  Our format is simple.  Each provider takes 3-5 minutes at the resource fairs to share with attendees about her or his organization’s relevant services and the attendees follow up during the “meet and greet” hour.  The PVRC makes available table space and two chairs for each service provider.  We encourage you to bring any handouts and giveaways that you want to make available to reentry resource fair attendees.

To sign up as a reentry resource fair provider, please complete this interactive online registration form, and click “SUBMIT” to send it to us:

Please feel welcome to visit any or all of the reentry resource fairs (3rd Wednesday monthly, 10:00 am-12 noon @ 1761 W. Holt Ave., Pomona), whether or not you wish to be there as a provider.  Thank you for your attention and consideration.
