Invitation to the California Latino Congreso Summit at ELAC on June 10

You are invited to the California Latino Congreso (CLC) on June 10, 2017  June 10, 2017 at East Los Angeles College, 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park, CA 91754 from 8:00am-6:00pm. www.california.latino-congreso.org to unify and empower the communities affected by the racist, xenophobic and anti-immigrant policies of President Trump.  The Latino and Latina Roundtable is one of the endorsers and various members of the Latino and Latina Roundtable board will participate on panels and workshops.

On June 10, 2017, the California Latino Congreso (CLC)  and the East Los Angeles College (ELAC) will host the June 10th Statewide Summit to unify and empower the communities affected by  the racist, xenophobic and anti-immigrant policies of President Trump.

The summit will bring together students, organizations, activists, church, scholar, elected officials and other members of the Mexican/Chicano/Latino/Indigenous community and allies to develop a Local, State, National and International Plan of Action to combat President Trump’s repressive policies.

The ELAC summit will build upon several planning meetings that have taken place in Los Angeles, CSU San Bernardino, UC Riverside which support students to successfully pursue their aspirations for a better future for themselves, their community the state of California,  the May Day  mobilization, the General Strike and in particular the efforts for the state of California to become a  Sanctuary State.

The summit objectives are to: 1) Develop a plan of action to defeat Trump’s agenda in California; 2) Build the California Latino Congreso as a strong united front to resist Trump’s agenda; 3) Build a strong movement to promote a progressive binational, Mexico-US and transnational agenda; 4) Build a strong, broad, multiethnic, multiracial movement capable of responding to the racist, anti-immigrant, neo-facist policies of the Trump Administration.

The summit is designed to share knowledge and promote debate among the participants by introducing and adopting Resolutions focusing on City, State, Federal legislation on immigration policy, grassroots resistance to oppressive immigration policies, voter empowerment, youth empowerment and DACA defense and fight back against ICE and police abuse,  that would serve as a roadmap for strategies  for short, medium and long term course of action to defeat the Trump agenda.

The California Latino Congreso is part of a National Coalition of organizations founded in 2006 made up of immigrant rights organizations, civil rights, and human rights organizations, students, women rights, anti-war, environmental rights, LGBTQ, labor unions and organizations working against police brutality and for social justice.
