A good memory today of a forum held on this day back home, in 2023 at Cal Poly Pomona, on the exemplary unity between Filipino and Mexican farmworkers on September 16, 1965 and the meaning of the 50th anniversary of Agbayani Village.
Great turn-out for a forum at Cal Poly Pomona on the exemplary unity between Filipino and Mexican farmworkers on September 16, 1965 and the meaning of the 50th anniversary of Agbayani Village (that housed Filipino retired workers) – as part of lessons for today for overcoming divisions and building multi-racial unity. Thank you to Professors Alvaro Huerta and Mary Daniko and the Weglyn Foundation for bringing students and community together with presenters Marissa Pulido (Agbayani Pilgrimage Committee); Kent Wong (Director of the UCLA Labor Center); and Jose Calderon (Emeritus Professor at Pitzer College).
