The Latino and Latina Roundtable of San Gabriel and Pomona Valley invite you to their annual breakfast! The breakfast is an opportunity to connect with others and also honor those in our community who have demonstrated the values of Cesar Chavez-

service to others, sacrifice, a preference for the most needy, determination, non-violence, acceptance, respect for life and the environment, community, knowledge, and innovation.

The deadline for nominating an individual or organization to be recognized at our 16th Annual Breakfast is today at 5:00pm. In 500 words or less please share how your nominee honors the legacy of Cesar Chavez and the 10 core values –

  1. Service to Others
  2. Sacrifice
  3. Preference to Help the Most Needy
  4. Determination
  5. Non-violence
  6. Acceptance
  7. Respect for life and the environment
  8. Community
  9. Knowledge and
  10. Innovation

Process:

Send your nominations in 500 words or less to Lmira@latinolatinaroundtable.org. You will receive an email from me confirming that your nomination has been received.

This is a reminder to all members of the Latino and Latina Roundtable that you have until 5 pm tomorrow (January third) to nominate a community member who has been exemplary in contributing to the efforts of empowering our communities and to the ongoing struggles for justice and equity.

We invite you to nominate someone who you believe deserves this recognition. All nominations are due on January 3rd by 5:00 pm by email. Please include a short bio (300-500 words) of your nominee. Urgent: Please RSVP for Saturday meeting

In an effort to get a count on how many of our members will be able to attend the Latino and Latina Roundtable membership meeting this Saturday, November 16th at 1 PM (see the message below), Lina Mira, our director has created an RSVP link.  We really need your involvement at this time as we take up the important task of voting on the seven at-large members for our board.  So please take a moment of your time and complete the RSVP so that we can ensure the percentage of membership required for our board election on Saturday.

To:  Members of the Latino and Latina Roundtable

As per our by-laws, the Latino and Latina Roundtable will be electing seven at-large members at its membership meeting on Saturday, November 16th to serve on the board for the next two years.  Nominations took place at our General Membership Meeting on Saturday, October 19th (the nominees are listed at the bottom of this message).  Our election meeting will take place  Saturday, November 16 at 1 PM at the Solidarity Center (1460 E. Holt Ave., Entrance #3 – Room 6 in Pomona).   

To be able to vote in the election set for November 16th, you have to be a paid member in good standing (30 days prior to the election).  In order to vote at the November 16th election, you also must be present at the meeting.  If you have been nominated for the board, as a nominee you should be prepared to make a one-minute statement as to your involvement in the Latino and Latina Roundtable and why you want to be on the board.  Any nominee that does not show up to the meeting on Nov. 16th and make a statement will be taken off of the list. We will use computers to vote and a ranked choice system that will be explained at the meeting.
