In an editorial on Wednesday, August 14th, the L. A. Times came out in support of driver’s licenses regardless of one’s immigration status. At the same time, the editorial supported AB 60, introduced by Assemblyman Luis Alejo (D-Watsonville) that would provide driver’s licenses regardless of citizenship status. Recently, Alejo responded to the petitions of immigrant rights organizers and agreed to not support “marked” licenses for undocumented. We expect the State Senate to pass the bill and we call on Governor Brown to do what is right for our communities and sign it.
