URBAN is a group of progressive faculty, scholars and activists who have been meeting for the past two years in Los Angeles. We are committed to social justice research and activism, and to strengthen collaboration between faculty, students, and the broader community to promote social change.
We are inviting you to be part of an interactive forum of leaders and activists who have been engaged in work on immigrant rights, mass incarceration, or both. The increase in mass deportation and mass incarceration reflects a systematic criminalization of communities of color, especially youth of color. The benefit of promoting a dialogue between scholars and community leaders will be to explore potential alliances, joint research, and to advance organizing and policy change.
We will be meeting at the UCLA Downtown Labor Center, 675 S. Park View St. on Saturday, March 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please RSVP to: urbanlosangelesnode@gmail.com
