Cinco de Mayo was given its real meaning at a Fernando Pedraza memorial and celebration at the corner of Arrow and Grove in Rancho Cucamonga by students, teachers, faculty, day laborers, union members, and participants from diverse faith-based and community-based organizations. Not only was the day commemorated as when a less equipped army of Mexican people defeated the colonial French army in Puebla, but also remembered the life of day laborer leader Fernando Pedraza and all those workers who have sacrificed and are contributing today to organize for a better quality of life.
