An uplifting film in these difficult times as a gift to our Communities! Joining with Family and Friends in a packed auditorium in the premiere of – Let the City Speak – a moving feature-length
documentary that follows the journey of the band Quetzal from its origins as a Chicano band in East Los Angeles (part of the Chicano movement music and art scene of the 1990s), through its transformational experience inspired by the Zapatistas in the mountains of Chiapas, México to use music and dance for social change, – to the present in planting seeds and roots of “community” – with its mix of Mexican and Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz, rock, and rhythms and blues. After the screening – a Panel discussion with filmmaker Akira Boch, Quetzal Flores, Martha Gonzalez, and music/dancing of fandango.
