Betancourt is wanted for extradition and prosecution by Spain and Swiss authorities for money laundering – and has a long history of operating in the shadowy world of secretive oil deals, regime power struggles and multiple financial crime investigations. – at the core of transforming Venezuela from a sovereign nation into essentially a vassal state of the United States.
