CALL FOR ACTION – Supervisor Solis will continue her work on protecting the rights of Immigrants in Los Angeles County at the Board Meeting on Tuesday, January 10th at 10am

Hello friends,

Please join us at the upcoming County board meeting on Tuesday, January 10th at 10 am to support Supervisor Solis’ continued work on Immigrants’ rights and protections and to call on the County to establish the Office of Immigration Affairs

At the meeting, the Sheriff and the Superintendent of the Los Angeles County Office of Education will report back on how they have responded to the directives in Supervisor Solis’ Immigration Protection Motion (http://hildalsolis.org/supervisors-solis-and-kuehl-call-for-la-county-strategy-to-protect-immigrant-communities/).

We need your voice!

And, the other supervisors and County leaders need to hear how the Immigration Protection Motion and an Office of Immigration Affairs would help our community.

Please let me know if you are able to attend and if you can bring others.

Take care and Happy New Year!

Pomona is on Record: It Supports Muslims – Diverse People/Groups

An exemplary vote by the Pomona City Council by voting in favor of a resolution whose specifics include: opposing immigration raids, supporting the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, calling for imposing a moratorium on immigration raids, and calling for all city employees to not collaborate in enforcing federal civil immigration laws.  Here is the link to Daily Bulletin article:

Request of LRT support of Islamic Center

REQUEST FROM TAHIL SHARMA, INTERFAITH ACTIVIST TO SUPPORT ISLAMIC CENTER OF CLAREMONT BY WRITING A LETTER:

“My name is Tahil Sharma and I’m an interfaith activist located in Claremont. Last week, I became super active in community responses to divisive rhetoric and hate practices after our local mosque, the Islamic Center of Claremont, received one of the threatening letters sent out to mosques in California. I am working on a small campaign to get letters written to them… To show they have support from other community members. I’m connecting these letters till Thursday and having them in on Friday to show how many people in Southern California care for them, support them, and want them to be active members in the community for justice and equity. Please message me anything you like, as a letter or small note, on to Facebook or by email at tahil@aidemocracy.org . One letter will be and must be responded to by a million messages of love. Thanks so much and please share this post and the word! The more letters I can get the better!”
