Community Support for Workers – SEIU needs You

Our friends at SEIU 2015 need your support right now. Follow the instructions and support nursing home staff. Read below and if you have any questions please contact Juan Garcia at SEIU.

We are requesting support for this federal regulation that would help address short staffing ratios in nursing homes across the country.  There is a link to an online “petition” that SEIU 2015 created. Electronic comments on that petition are due by Tuesday, July 11.

First-hand accounts will help shine a light on the need for federal reforms. Please click on this link to share a personal story of how a nursing home worker or workers have helped you or a loved one or how you’ve seen the quality of care of your loved one be affected by not having enough Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) or other nursing home staff.  This will help combat lies and improve the lives of both the workers and residents.

Thank you in advance and let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Juan Carlos Garcia

Invitation to Latino and Latina Roundtable Virtual Meeting – Sat., July 23 from 1 -3 pm

This is your invitation to the Latino and Latina Roundtable Membership Meeting this Saturday, July 23 from 1 -3 pm via zoom.  Given some of the increases in covid cases, the membership meeting will be virtual and hope that the next one can be face-to-face or hybrid.  Given that our organizational work has been moving forward in the implementation of our strategic plan, the various committees will give short reports regarding the challenges (or threats) that they are facing, the opportunities in the work of the committee, what has been done up to this point in the work, and where we will be by December.  With the mid-term elections coming up, it is important to connect as much as possible to the conditions that are developing and the challenges and opportunities developing from those conditions.  At the same time, we will look for links between our different areas of work as to how they advance the development of the Latino and Latina Roundtable.  The link for the Saturday meeting is:  https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89452435261
