With the New Year, the beginning of our annual membership drive, and with my birthday arriving on January 8, as in previous years, in lieu of gifts or cards, I request that you give the gift of becoming a member or to send a donation to the Latino and Latina Roundtable. Attached is the membership application that you can fill out and mail back to us. Below are also links on how you can become a member and how you can send in a donation. The membership dues for one year are $25.00 for individuals and $10.00 for students, retirees, and low-income individuals.
Your membership or donation is the highest gift of respect that you can give for all our work that we carry out daily in the interests of our communities. In supporting our organization through your membership, you are helping to sustain the inspiration and efforts of our members and staff in organizing through our immigrant rights, college for all, and new economy committees – and through: our annual Cesar Chavez breakfast and Pilgrimage march that provide scholarships and honor community-based leaders in our region; Dia de Muertos and Posadas community-based cultural events; “mural/sacred space” preservation in places like Cesar Chavez Park; collaborations with area schools and colleges in passing education legislation in Sacramento and implementing school-to-college pipeline initiatives; implementing educational forums and workshops; carrying out voter turn-out efforts; developing well-being and cooperative economic development projects in sustaining local wealth; supporting worker and union organizing efforts in our region; and through our ongoing participation in numerous coalitions on social justice and quality of life issues.
