Dia de los Muertos: Day of the Dead Celebration is an annual cultural event held in November. This program is a collaboration between the Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education and the Ethnic and Women’s Studies Department. The Dia de los Muertos Celebration has become an
anticipated festivity and an opportunity for the entire community to come together in celebration of life through the creation of multi-ethnic altars, music and multicultural learning through identity, intersectionality and inclusivity. Cultural performances include Taiko Japanese Drummers, Ballet Folkorico, and the band QUITA PENAS
Food sales from current Chicano/Latino student clubs and organizations and the campus will be available for purchase, fundraised monies going to the annual DREAM Scholarship.
A Community Altar will be available. All participants are encouraged to bring photos of their loved ones or items to remember them on this night and in life. Vendors and a photo booth will be available to add to the night’s celebration.
