NEW ECONOMY UPDATE

On April 17, 2023, the Pomona City Council unanimously approved funding for LRT’s Pomona Jobs Program (PJP) through the City’s American Rescue Plan (ARP) dollars. PJP is a program in partnership with the Institute for Ecological Civilization (EcoCiv) and the Wellbeing Economy Alliance California (WeAll) that will establish an Anchor Institution Collaborative and High Road Training Partnerships to create at least 30 to 50 new, high-quality jobs in Pomona. LRT and EcoCiv are in the process of developing job descriptions for the staff that will lead this groundbreaking initiative in our region. The goal is to kick-off the organizing work for PJP this summer.

Stay tuned for more details and updates on the New Economy’s projects and PJP and to learn about how you can get involved.

THANK YOU, LRT!

I would like to take some time to thank every single person at the Latino and Latina Roundtable for their contribution in making my time at the organization a great experience.

I have been working as the lead community organizer for EmPOWER for the past year, a position that helped me learn more about clean mobility and environmental justice. It has been a pleasure to work with the community and expand my knowledge of what it is to fight for clean mobility in our area.

As of May 31st, I will be fully transitioning out of my role at the Latino and Latina Roundtable. It was an honor to get to help out so many individuals and make some great relationships and connections. Latino and Latina Roundtable will always be a home to me and I am so excited to see the organization grow and expand throughout the years.

In Solidarity,

Kimberly Hernandez
