Our deepest condolences to familia, extended familia, and all those whose lives were influenced and changed by Magdaleno. I was one of those, and although hurting inside, have the consolation that who he was and what he contributed is very much alive in all that we do in the continuing struggles for justice and equity. Que Viva Leno! Magdaleno- Presente!
Truly an example for all of us – who really influenced the rest of my life when I was just a student at the University of Colorado- and saw the sacrifices that Leno and other organizers were making in Center, Colorado in a strike of lettuce farmworkers. His character was always in the interests of our communities – and his spirit was one that always reflected the humility, caring, and corazon of those farmworkers and immigrant families in the fields. I cannot remember Leno ever being so down- that he could not get up again and when we were down he always found the way to pick us up / lift us up to continue on. Hurting inside – but truly appreciate what he has left with us in who we are and what we do.
