Good memory today as workers at the colleges get ready to negotiate a new contract!

Spirited pot-luck dinner and collective gathering today of Pomona College and Pitzer College workers and students and community at Huerta del Valle Community Garden and Urban Farm in Ontario to “celebrate our achievements, those that have passed away, and how we can support each other in the future.” The event included : Karen May, wife of Roberto “Bobby” de La Cruz” sharing memories of Bobby’s many contributions to our communities (with a moment of silence and reflection in his honor); Maria Alonso, the director of Huerta del Valle, giving a history of the garden; Maria Guerra honoring workers who have passed away; and workers sharing stories on their conditions, the gains made, and the organizing efforts still to come.
