Support your nonprofits! 🙏

Dear LRT Friends,

We hope this email finds you and your loved ones healthy and well. Today is a big day for non-profits. Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to share our gratitude and to highlight our work. No one can deny the importance of non-profit organizations in our communities, especially during this pandemic.

The Latino and Latina Roundtable is no different. We count on your support to keep our doors open and our mission alive. Although this pandemic has kept us physically apart, my belief is that we will come out of this stronger. We have learned new ways to organize, created new partnerships, and along the way have tapped into our creativity to uplift our community.

Please support us,  We have two options- a Facebook Fundraiser and also a Go Fund Me- Charity page.

We hope to go into 2021 with our new strategic plan and a renewed commitment to bring the issues that impact our communities to the forefront.
A heartfelt thanks to each and everyone of you for being part of the Latino and Latina Roundtable community and for believing in our work! We see you, we hear you, we love you!

In Solidarity,

Lina Mira and LRT Board

Asking for your Support

As part of Giving Tuesday (a national day of donating to those organizations that “unleash the power of people to transform their communities”), we are requesting your support of the Latino and Latina Roundtable of the San Gabriel and Pomona Valley as we prepare for our organizing efforts in 2021 — and to continue the advancement of our civic engagement and leadership development work in the areas of immigrant rights, community development, and education.  As you know, for years we have been primarily a volunteer organization that is sustained through the donations of supporters like you.  Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Please press on the link below which will direct you to the site where you can donate in Facebook.  Thank you for your support.

Facebook pays all the processing fees for you, so 100% of your donation goes directly to the nonprofit.

Invitation to LRT Membership election meeting on election of LRT officers and Discussion on National Presidential Elections

This is your invitation to the Latino and Latina Roundtable membership meeting online this Saturday, November 21 at 1 P. M. (the zoom link is below) .  Only those members who are in good standing (who have completed an application and paid their dues before Oct. 16, 2020) are being invited to this meeting. We need your participation to this meeting for the purpose of electing four members that have been nominated for the LRT officer positions.  Those nominated for the four positions include:
President:  Jose Calderon;
Vice-President:  Angela Sanbrano;
Secretary: Alicia Rodriguez; and
Treasurer: Rose Calderon.
John Nolte was nominated for Secretary but has decided to withdraw.  As per our by-laws, the LRT election needs to have a quorum of 25% of the members – so it is important that you participate in this meeting.  After the election of the officers, the LRT will hold a discussion on “The Results of the National Presidential Election and the Road Ahead.”  We look forward to seeing you on November 21st.

Message to attendees of Latino and Latina Roundtable- 16th Annual Cesar Chavez Breakfast

A Message from Latino and Latina Roundtable:

Dear Virtual Breakfast Guests,

We cannot thank you enough for joining us this morning! Today was a triumphant day for our organization. Our celebration began with live music by Son Real. Knowing that you would be joining us created so much excitement. This was uncharted territory. Thank you to Jose Calderon and Angela Sanbrano for showing us courage and leadership in the moment!

We hope you were inspired by the speakers, honorees, and scholarship recipients and encouraged to organize in new ways as a result of this global pandemic. Si Se Puede!

Your trust and support means the world to us. We could not have done this without your encouragement and grace and know that your very presence made today special.

Thank you again for being part of this celebration! Have a restful weekend!

Thank You for your Support

I want to thank you personally for donating to the sustainability of the Latino and Latina Roundtable of Pomona and San Gabriel Valley, for the continued honoring of exemplary leaders in our communities, and for the scholarships that we give to students who exemplify the principles of connecting their studies with community engagement.

Our organizers have given countless hours in putting together a program that: celebrates our honorees and scholarship recipients; includes the music of Son Real; and ends with our traditional singing of De Colores. In that spirit, I am asking you to put aside an hour-and-a-half of your time to join us in our Spirited Virtual 16th Annual Cesar Chavez Breakfast Fundraiser on September 25th from 9 a. m. – 10:30 a. m. (with Son Real beginning to play at 8:45 am).  The link to connect to on that day is:

You are invited to a Zoom webinar.

Another way you can also help us is by participating in our virtual auction.  As part of our fundraising event we are holding a virtual silent auction beginning Thursday, September 10 – and closing at the end of the breakfast on Friday, September 25.  The virtual auction includes authentic and limited-edition items from our movements.  To see what items are being auctioned, please visit the following site to make your bid on your favorite piece.

Again, thank you so much for your support!  We rely on this one fundraiser to help sustain the work of our organization and it is your donation that will be very much alive throughout the year in our education, immigrant rights, labor, and community development work.
