Jose Zapata Calderon is Emeritus Professor in Sociology and Chicano/a Latino/a Studies at Pitzer College and President of the Latino and Latina Roundtable of the Pomona Valley and San Gabriel Valley.
For years now, the Latino and Latina Roundtable has supported this spiritual gathering by the Pomona Inland Valley Martin Luther King project – an example of building bridges of multi-racial coalition-building.
We moved! We want to invite you to our open house and membership drive. Celebrate with the Latino and Latina Roundtable this new chapter. Learn about our work and visit our new office. Saturday January 24th from 1-3 pm.
On this day when we celebrate the leadership qualities of Martin Luther King, we have the abhorrent example of an authoritarian narcissistic president who is willing to occupy and takeover Greenland with troops (as his administration is unjustly doing in our communities) because he was denied the Nobel Peace Prize. It is important for all justice-loving people locally and internationally to continue to expose and to “march with our feet, with our grassroots economic worker/consumer power, and to the ballot box” until there is systemic change – and the forces that support such a dictator – are fully defeated!
El hermano en Lucha Jerry Ryan me acordó hoy de una entrevista por Olga Rojas que es muy relevante en cuanto a cómo quienes están en el poder (y esos mal informados) buscan a dividir nuestras comunidades. Brother in the struggle Jerry Ryan reminded me of an interview awhile back by Olga Rojas which is very relevant as to how those in power (and those misinformed) seek to divide our communities.
