Justice for Roberto Carlos Montoya!
Justice for Carlos and all our immigrant familias!
Walked alongside Brother Jerry Ryan in “UFW March for the Governor’s Signature” and we were hurting at the end – and came to understand the tremendous sacrifice that so many are making in walking all the way to Sacramento. Join the march if you possibly can for whatever day or days that you can – and send a message to Governor Newsom to sign AB 2183, the CA Agricultural Labor Relations Voting Choice Act – which would give more choices to farm workers so they can vote free from intimidation. AB 2183 offers the same voting choices Gov. Newsom used to defeat the GOP recall election. His veto came despite huge support for the bill in both state houses. Thank you John Jue for this picture.

A memory today from 2012 – when I ran alongside writer, professor, community organizer Roberto Cintli Rodriguez at a “Cross-Cultural Festival to Save Ethnic Studies” in Panorama City. As in this run, he was always there giving of his life to the future of our communities. His contributions will live on as examples for others and especially those younger generations who are picking up the baton. Roberto Cintli Rodriguez- Presente!
One of the reasons we cherish the annual gathering of the Latino and Latina Sociology section at the American Sociological Association is meeting up with long-time friends and colleagues! Here with Professors Rogelio Saenz, Vilma Ortiz, Teresa Cordova, Marta Lopez-Garza, Manuel Pastor, and Gilbert Cadena.
