It is important to support Assemblyman Roger Hernandez’s bill requiring district elections. This will be historic in advancing voting rights like never before. Changing at-large to district elections has been shown to be effective in bolstering “people of color” representation, facilitating more direct communication between the voters and their representatives, and reducing the costs of running for city council seats.
