The Big Bad Bill Is A $4.5 Trillion Robbery
Scapegoating at the highest levels attacking our immigrant communities to hide the systemic reasons for why immigrants come here, blaming them for the state of the economy, and to hide the tremendous profits made by multinational corporations here and abroad from their labor. We know who the real criminals are – and it is not our hard-working immigrant families. As the studies in this article show: “About 68% of those had no criminal convictions and an additional 57% had never been charged with a crime.”

Fueron defendidos probono por la clínica de derechos de los inmigrantes de la Universidad del Sur de California y las fianzas pagadas con donativos de la comunidad. Los jornaleros no están solos. Three day laborers arrested in a Pomona raid last April have been released. They were defended pro bono by the University of Southern California Immigrant Rights Clinic, and their bond was paid with community donations. The day laborers are not alone.
Appreciate familia (Rose, Jose Luis, and Joaquin) who supported the fundraiser for Maria Elena Durazo – and after – attended an art reception for the Ontario Art Expo featuring Rose’s painting “Mensaje de Esperanza” (Message of Hope). Rosa Martha is an organizer of immigrant workers and a musician who has given concerts in Central and South America (including Portugal and the United States).
Great turn-out of supporters for Maria Elena Durazo for L A County Supervisor District 1 fundraiser with good food, spirited songs by Rosa Marta, passionate emceeing by Mark Ramos, moving presentation by Maria Elena, lots of interaction, good questions and comments from those attending, a surprise cake with Maria Elena’s photo, and the singing of De Colores in a circle (with lots of Si Se Puede’s and Viva Maria Elena chants at the end). Thank you to the Host Committee for their untiring organizing efforts in ensuring the success of this event.
