Request of LRT support of Islamic Center

REQUEST FROM TAHIL SHARMA, INTERFAITH ACTIVIST TO SUPPORT ISLAMIC CENTER OF CLAREMONT BY WRITING A LETTER:

“My name is Tahil Sharma and I’m an interfaith activist located in Claremont. Last week, I became super active in community responses to divisive rhetoric and hate practices after our local mosque, the Islamic Center of Claremont, received one of the threatening letters sent out to mosques in California. I am working on a small campaign to get letters written to them… To show they have support from other community members. I’m connecting these letters till Thursday and having them in on Friday to show how many people in Southern California care for them, support them, and want them to be active members in the community for justice and equity. Please message me anything you like, as a letter or small note, on to Facebook or by email at tahil@aidemocracy.org . One letter will be and must be responded to by a million messages of love. Thanks so much and please share this post and the word! The more letters I can get the better!”

Common Vision UFW fellowship focused on community garden movement

Opportunity for young people interested in school garden movement:

“We are seeking fellows who can join Common Vision’s 6-week tour where we plant fruit trees, tend educational orchards, make art and run programming with students at public schools from San Diego to the San Francisco Bay Area. Fellows will work with the Common Vision staff and volunteers to make UFW history, current relevant issues and campaigns a bigger part of Common Vision’s educational curriculum; fellows will collaborate with Common Vision staff to help provide suggestions to teachers and garden coordinators in this same vein. With on-the-ground perspective at over 50 school gardens and orchards, fellows will consider the school garden “movement” and make suggestions about where it could be a more effective educational and organizational tool.”

Fundraiser for a friend

On the 18th of November our wonderful friend Pablo Lopez, passed away. His passing is very hard to accept and his smile and spirit will truly be missed. He fought against cancer and was always optimistic even with the circumstances. His love for the community of Pomona is how he became family to many. He was like my brother who’d march in the streets, but also help I’m the community, mostly inspiring our youth. In this hard time we are hosting a fundraiser to cover his funeral expenses. This Saturday December 3rd, we will be selling food, raffle off items, and remember the great person he was through a fundraiser. I ask for your support on Saturday. We will be at Bethel Church (1921 N. Garey Ave. Pomona) from 4:30- 8:30 pm.

You can also donate on gofund me at: https://www.gofundme.com/rip-pablo-chompo-lopez

Thank you for your support.

With love,

Melissa Ayala

In addition, there will be a car wash the next day, December 4th from 9am-2pm at Cesar DeLaCruz AutoShop 14630 Valley Blvd. El Monte (Behind Burger King)
