Pomona City Council Forum on October 7th

This is your invitation to the Pomona City Council Candidate’s Forum sponsored by the Progressive Alliance of the Inland Valley (which includes the Latino and Latina Roundtable,  the NAACP, the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center, One Million NIU, and the League of Women Voters) to be held on Tuesday, October 7 from 7 – 9 PM at the Pomona City Hall Council Chambers.  This is a crucial election for the future of Pomona and will be covering the key issues that have affected the community and the region in recent years.  With your involvement, this will be the most diverse, grass-roots, and community-based forum and we urge your participation before the forum by 1. reaching out to other contacts that you know and inviting them (obtain a firm commitment from at least three of your contacts)  2.  outreach through your listservs and facebook  3.  commit to be there on Monday.

With artist Paul Botello at a mural that he and Pitzer students painted in1997 and that now we want to preserve. It is at Pitzer College on the wall at Mead Dorm – a dorm that is planned to be torn down in the future and there are no plans to save the mural. As the Latino and Latina Roundtable, we have agreed to support this walk.  Please meet at 4:30 on Sept. 21 at the Temple Beth Israel and we will walk together.

Attached is a flier for the 6th Annual Interfaith Peace Walk through Pomona & La Verne this Sunday

     September 21 starting at 4:30

 The walk starts at Temple Beth Israel, 3033 N. Towne Ave. in Pomona at 4:30 p.m.

   Next stop is the City of Knowledge Islamic School on Garey Ave. just south of Foothill Blvd.

 Last stop is the  La Verne Church of the Brethren at Bonita and E Streets in La Verne, where it ends at 6:00 p.m.

    People may also drive from

     stop to stop.

Even the L. A. Times is criticizing President Obama in “putting politics ahead of the needs of the nation” in putting aside the use of his executive power to keep a promise that he “made in his first year of office” to “change the nation’s immigration system.”
